Welcome to Edenbridge Primary School’s Nursery Page

At Edenbridge Primary School we also have a Nursery Class. The Nursery is staffed by a fully qualified teacher and supported by a highly experienced team.

Miss Ruth Piper, Nursery Teacher             Miss S Medhurst, Nursery Nurse, Miss E Murphy and Mrs M Bell, Teaching Assistants

Our Nursery has its own separate area within the school and a large, dedicated playground area providing a stimulating learning environment specially geared to the Nursery age group. Whilst it is self-contained, the children are included in some activities within the main school such as special performances, helping them with their transition to infant school.

Young children learn best when they are actively involved in an integrated curriculum, of which carefully structured play is an important part. The children in the Nursery start with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, with the prime areas of learning being:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development

If you would like to come and visit our Nursery we will be holding nursery open mornings in the Autumn term (dates to be confirmed). If you would like to secure your place before that please telephone the school office on 01732 863787 and we will arrange a convenient time for you to come and look around.

Early Years Pupil Premium

If your child is aged 3 or 4 and your family receive Benefits, Edenbridge Primary School Nursery may be entitled to additional funding to enhance the education of your child. The funding known as Early Years Pupil Premium or EYPP will be provided by Kent County Council and is available to children aged 3 and 4 years whose parents or carers are in receipt of certain Benefits or for children who have been in care or have left care through adoption or child arrangement orders.

How can the extra funds help my child?

This extra funding can be used in lots of ways to give them the best start in life and prepare them for full time school.

For example, the funding can be used to provide:-

  • Specialist training for staff e.g. speech and language development
  • Extra or individual support in a particular learning area
  • Extra equipment to support particular development
  • Additional staffing or staff hours to enable further support for your child

Do I qualify for EYPP?

If you receive one of the following benefits, you may be entitled to claim extra funding for your child:-

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seeker Allowance
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (providing you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of less than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Support under Part VI (six) of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension credit

Or if your child:-

  • Has been looked after by the Local Authority in care for at least one day
  • Has been adopted from care
  • Has left care through Special Guardianship or subject child arrangement orders

What do I do next?

If you think you may qualify it is quick and easy; complete an application form from the School Office.
