The After School Club (TASC)

We offer a wide variety of activities, which are carefully planned and suited to meet the needs of all the children that attend.  A typical evening consists of tea-time, with a snack consisting of sandwich, fruit and milk.   This is a social time where the children get the opportunity to reflect on their day, whilst allowing them some ‘down time’ before the fun begins.  Following the snack, a game is usually played either indoors or outdoors depending on the weather, which is the children’s  opportunity to ‘let off steam’.  After this, a selection of craft activities are offered, along with construction, reading and assisting with homework if required.   All the activities are supervised by qualified and experienced staff, who have a wide range of skills that they apply in each session.

We are open daily between 3.15pm – 5.30pm (although we offer the service until 6pm if required.)

For further details contact the school office, or e-mail TASC via The Manager on Sharron.Garrett@edenbridge.kent.sch.uk. Alternatively, a contact number is available between 3pm – 6pm for TASC- 07548 170267.

For bookings, cancellation or other communication please use 07548 170267. This number is regularly monitored throughout the day for messages.

Meet the team

Mrs Garrett – After School Club Manager

I have worked at the school since 2001.  During this time I have worked as a Teaching Assistant, and as a behavioural support assistant.  I qualified as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant 5 years ago, and since that time, have worked in all year groups from Reception to Year 6.  This has given me the opportunity to meet most of the children in the school and has helped me to understand their individual personalities and needs.  I am also a member of the PSCHE team in the school.  This role encompasses social skills and behaviour strategies, many of which are incorporated into daily life at The After School Club.   I have a vast experience of working with children with Autism, Aspergers and ADHD. I was previously at The Hub for 8 years as a play worker, and had worked for EHAS (Holiday Activities Scheme), both during the play scheme and on residential camps.

As the After School Club Manager I can apply all of this knowledge and experience through carefully planned activities which are accessible to all. I have high expectations for behaviour and aim to provide, along with my team, a calm, caring and stimulating environment.  We encourage good working relationships with parents/carers.  Above all, I hope to inspire the children  through my enthusiasm for working with them.

Mrs Oliver –  Deputy Manager

Mrs. Oliver brings a variety of experience and knowledge to her role.  She has had a wide range of involvement with children, the most recent being as a Nursery Assistant within the local community.  In addition to this, she has worked in a primary school both as a Teaching Assistant and in the Nursery Department.  For several years, Mrs. Oliver has been a volunteer at EHAS and this has given her the opportunity to go on residential trips where she has played a key role in interacting with a range of children.  She has an NVQ3 in Childcare.  Her good organisational skills are a key factor in ensuring the smooth-running of TASC on a daily basis.  Mrs Oliver is also a lunchtime supervisor at the school.

Ms Downes   – After School Club Assistant

Ms. Downes is a Teaching Assistant at the school, and also has a role as a Lunchtime Assistant.   She has a good relationship with the children and offers support and reassurance to both children and their parents/carers.  Ms. Downes has completed an NVQ2.  Her cheerful personality and positive approach to life are much appreciated by the children and her colleagues alike.

Miss Winter   – After School Club Assistant

Miss Winter is a Teaching Assistant at the school and also has a role as a Lunchtime Assistant.   She knows children well as she meets many of them across the day during and after the normal school day.
